Bicentenario: Por favor no olvide re-bobinar la cinta

1. Toda cultura construye desde el pasado, la política no es la excepción. Es ahí cuando las definiciones del pasado se convierten en prejuicio, que si bien posibilitan la movilización y actualización de una cultura, también posibilitan el mal-entendido cuando se usan desconociendo su origen.

2. Se combaten las costumbres venidas (venias) de España, y auque la sociedad colombiana se caracteriza por ser conservadora, acepta el cambio por estar justificado por el ideal de independencia igualitaria y libertad fraternal.

3. Se compara que en los años del regeneracionismo comenzábamos a entender las artes como un ejercicio moderno pero cuya práctica era delimitada por un quehacer medieval, ligado a las distinciones entre el arte y el oficio, el hombre y la mujer, Europa y América, y desde luego, entre colonia y patria independiente. La cuestión entonces estriba en la forma en que se toma conciencia de esa transformación, no solo como mero cambio, sino en el curso que tomará este, es decir, el asunto no es cambiar, sino ¿cómo?

 

POS-BICENTENARIO
Considera la posibilidad de desplazar y/o recomponer los espacios políticos pensándolos como espacios públicos, donde tiene lugar la discusión las cosas comunes, un mundo propuesto a partir de la transformación del mobiliario de la vida cotidiana, que para ser posible debe encontrar un equilibro también, entre las condiciones bajo las cuales han sido producidos, los medios que usa y el uso que hace y han hecho de los mismos.

Esta es pues una invitación a devolvernos en la historia, debatiendo entonces sobre nuestro presente, tal y como se nos presenta, procurando reflexionar, y si es posible comprender, las múltiples relaciones entre un bicentenario de principios del siglo XIX, y un pos-bicentenario a la luz de las contingencias actuales.

TEXTOS
Aceptamos contribuciones en español y/o ingles. Los trabajos seleccionados serán publicados en los dos idiomas. Éstos deben tener una extensión mínima de 2000 palabras, y en el caso de las reseñas, entre 500 y 800.

Otros materiales relacionados con el tema de la convocatoria son recibidos, y su selección dependerá de la posibilidad y la pertinencia de su publicación en un soporte electrónico (Web) y/o un formato para impresión (PDF).

Please remember to re-wind the tape

1. Every culture builds on the past, and politics aren’t the exception. It’s there when the definitions of the past become prejudices, that while enabling mobilization and updating of cultures, they also allow the emergence of misunderstandings, when used ignoring their origins.

2. We struggle against the manners borrowed from (bowing towards) Spain, and although Latin American societies are distinctively conservative (some more than others), they accept change if justified in the ideals of egalitarian independence and fraternal freedom.

3. It is thought that in the years of regenerationism we started to understand art as a modern exercise, but whose practice was delimited by medieval forms of work, linked to distinctions between art and craft, man and woman, Europe and America, and of course, between colony and independent country. Then the question lies in the way in which we became aware of such transformation, not as a mere development, but in the path it will follow, that is to say, changing is not the issue, but, how?

 

POST-BICENTENNIAL
It deals with the possibility of displacing and/or recomposing political spaces by thinking of them as public space, where the discussion of common matters takes place, a world suggested based on the transformation of the appointments of daily life, that needs, in order to be, it must find balance, also, between the conditions on which this spaces have been produced, the means they use, and the usage itself.

So this is an invitation to go back in history, debating on our present, as it is presented to us, trying to reflect, and understand if possible, the multiple relationships between a bicentennial in the beginnings of 19th century, and a post-bicentennial in the light of actual contingencies.

TEXTS
We accept contributiones in english and/or spanish. Selected works wil be published in both languages. They should be at least 2000 words, and reviews, between 500 and 800.

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS
Other materials related to the subject of this issue are welcome, and its selection and publishing will depend on the posibility and relevance of putting each contribution in electronic (Web) and/or print-capable (PDF) formats.
