Juan Carlos Martínez, vocero Moqoit, expresó que: "Nos manifestamos al costado de la ruta con carteles y panfletos, en contra de la decisión que está tomando la Cámara de Diputados de la Provincia del Chaco, la cual está debatiendo una ley para sacar el meteorito del Chaco"

"Nosotros, el Pueblo Moqoit, mantenemos una interrelación de energía con este meteorito, desde tiempos ancestrales, y en el lugar donde se encuentra el mismo realizamos permanentemente nuestras ceremonias espirituales. Es un patrimonio cultural de nuestro Pueblo y está asentado sobre mil hectáreas de un territorio con mucha energía", prosiguió Martínez.

"Queremos dejar en claro que desde la Cámara de Diputados no se nos ha consultado sobre el traslado de este meteorito y estamos reclamando participación y consulta sobre lo que se quiere realizar, tanto con nuestros patrimonios culturales, como en nuestros Territorios", dijo el vocero.

El meteorito sería trasladado a Alemania, en Febrero del 2012, para una exposición artística.

Si bien el meteorito se encuentra dentro del ejido municipal de Gancedo, a 15 km al sur de esa localidad, casi al el límite entre Chaco y Santiago del Estero, la provincia, a través de una ley, expropió 100 hectáreas, donde se encuentra el mismo.

Los Pueblos Qom, Moqoit, entre otros, realizan, para esta época del año y desde tiempos ancestrales, diversas danzas y ceremonias alrededor del meteorito en cuestión.

El vocero Moqoit, finalizó diciendo: "Se habla de que el traslado del meteorito, ida y vuelta a Alemania, tendría un costo de 20.000.000 a 33.000.000 de Euros, y tampoco sabemos de donde va a salir la plata".

Existen Convenios Internacionales (Art.169 de la OIT) y reconocimientos en la Constitución de la Nación Argentina (art.75 - Inc.17 ) que garantizan la participación y la consulta previa libre e informada sobre cualquier tipo de acción que se quiera realizar con los Patrimonios Culturales de los Pueblos Originarios, como así también, dentro de sus Territorios.

"We the People Moqoit, maintain an inter-relationship of energy with this meteorite since ancient times, and we permanently conduct our spiritual ceremonies at the place where the meteorite is situated. It is an object of cultural heritage for our people and sits on thousand acres of territory with a lot of energy, "continued Martinez.

"We want to make clear that the House of Representatives did not consult us on the transfer of this meteorite and we are demanding for consultation and participation in what they want to achieve with our cultural heritage, as well as with our territory," said the spokesman.

The meteorite is planned to be transferred to Germany in February 2012 for an art exhibition.

Although the meteorite falls within the municipality of Gancedo (a Native reservation) 15 km south of the town and almost at the limit between Chaco and Santiago del Estero, the provincial government took possession of 100 hectares of land where the meteorite is situated through the passing of a law.

The people of Qom, Moqoit among others, perform at this time of year and since ancient times, various dances and ceremonies around the meteorite in question.

The Moqoit spokesman, concluded: "There is talk that the transfer of the meteorite to and from Germany would cost 20 million to 33 million Euros, and neither do we know where the money is coming from."

There are international conventions (ILO Art.169) and recognition in the Argentine Constitution (art.75 - Inc.17) that ensure participation, as well as informed free prior consent about any action that is taken with the cultural heritage of indigenous people, as well as within their territories.?
